We recently caught up with Loy Dönne, co-founder of Nevalu and there’s a lot happening.
Alongside his PhD on circular materials and scalable business models in the built environment, Loy is pushing Nevalu forward with exciting new steps.
Nevalu known for its 3D printed vases and lamps is trying out larger pieces like furniture and even street furniture, all made from recycled plastics. They’ve already tested their first full-scale prints, which included a chair and side tables, using a printer that can handle objects up to one cubic meter. In the future, they hope to scale even further into architectural applications.
The team is also working toward fully automated 24/7 production and will open a pop-up store in the 02.10.2025 in Düsseldorf (Benrather Str 8). A pop-up store that is following their success of their current retail store in Münster. Meanwhile, Nevalu continues to collaborate with B2B clients on custom pieces and Loy shares his insights with students through design and entrepreneurship courses at TU Delft and Münster School of Architecture. Some students are even part of the team of Nevalu.
It’s an inspiring mix of research, business, and design with Loy Donne and we can’t wait to see what’s next from Loy and the Nevalu team.
