The 15th of March they will deploy their reefs in the Scottish Highlands
ReefCircular is raising funds to support their bioconcrete research and development – and restore oyster reefs. March 15th they will be deploying 15 artificial OysterReefs and over 50 kelp tiles seeded with sugar kelp, in the Scottish Highland. These are made with their very own bioconcrete made out of local waste shells. ReefCirculare already deployed 24 reefs in June 2024 and it is showing that there is 400% more fish abundance and 200% more species diversity in just 6 months. ReefCirculare does this in collaboration with other initiatives but also need you to help to keep deploying the reefs!
With the extra funding they can get for instance a wetsuit for the deployment of the reefs and will help to raise funds for their secondary deployment by june 2025. To raise funds the team designed merchandise with the use of only cotton fibers and algae ink, which is wash resistant, and are printed in Copenhagen. The merchandise can be bought on the WWFs webshop. Besides the merchandise you can also support them by adopting one of their reefs! These reefs are monitored so you can watch and see the impact and the result of the reefs on their social media.
