A little introduction story by Bas Plaisier
My friends sometimes call me the ‘dreamer’ of the group, whenever I come up with yet another ambitious idea. I prefer to see it as thinking in possibilities and opportunities. Of course, it is important to remain realistic and not drift into naivety, but with intuition and passion you can go a long way. If you truly want something, and are willing to work hard for it, you can make it happen!
I get excited by the idea that things don’t always have to stay the way they are. Something that now feels self-evident once started out as a small, uncertain step. Over the years, countless innovations have grown from an idea into something that shapes our everyday lives.
Entrepreneurship requires creativity and determination. Things almost never work out exactly the way you envisioned them, and then you need to be able to adapt, push through, and keep going. Looking back, I think these traits, combined with the desire to contribute to a better world, are also the reason why I started my bachelor’s degree four years ago.
During my studies, I fed my curiosity by exploring things alongside my bachelor’s program. This gave me a taste of entrepreneurship, when I spent half a year in Leiden studying science-based entrepreneurship. Last year, I was also part of the board of our faculty’s study association, Stylos. There, I met many interesting people and companies, and got a glimpse into the practice of the architecture world.
Now, as I finish the final semester of my bachelor’s and prepare to start my master’s in Architecture, I look forward to further developing my curiosity and ambitions. At BK-Launch, I hope to nurture that curiosity, get to know the community of entrepreneurs, and hear their stories.
