Hannah on the master elective Entrepreneurship in the Built Environment

Nice to meet you! Since October, I’ve been involved in developing the course Entrepreneurship in the Built Environment. What used to be the BK-Launch Studio has now evolved into a 15-ECTS full-time course. Together with a fantastic team of teachers, we’ve designed and added several project tracks. Within these, students get to dive into developing their own architecture firm, designing a business model within several themes, or working out their own entrepreneurial idea. We’re starting again in just a few weeks and I’m looking forward to it!

I’m especially excited to see what kind of businesses students will design, which problems they will choose to address and what solutions will emerge from their creativity.
To me, that’s the beauty of entrepreneurship: taking ownership of a challenge in society and taking that responsibility by working towards a self-developed solution. It’s about looking for your own space in the built environment, through experimenting, failing, getting back up and trying again.

About Hannah

At some point, while walking across the roof of the Oslo Opera House, I had a realization about the influence my surroundings have on me and the people around me. People were walking uphill across the sloping roof, gazing out over the harbor and the city beyond, all sharing a beautiful summer day together, surrounded by the architecture.

That sense of wonder, both at the beauty of the world and the creative power of design, is what brought me to the Faculty of Architecture. After some great years of studying, I started the Management in the Built Environment (MBE) master track last September. I’m really enjoying it so far! I’ve already learned a lot about how cities and buildings are organized, for whom and by whom and I look forward to deepening that understanding in the coming years.

I’m also proud to now contribute, through BK-Launch, to the inspiring work being done at this faculty!

Hannah will join the BK-Launch team as a student-assistent supporting the team of teachers and guest lecturers behind the MSc Entrepreneurship electives in Q4, starting next week, and Q5, starting September 2025. You can reach out to her with all your questions relating to the courses, or just for a chat! Her email is: H.D.Vlastuin@tudelft.nl
