A little introduction story by Anne Meijne our new team member
The combination of curiosity and ambition has always been my driving force, both during my studies and in my further development. I began my academic journey at a university of applied sciences in Alkmaar, where I studied engineering. During these four years, I gained a lot of practical skills, but after graduating, I realized that my curiosity about what else there was to learn and discover had only grown stronger.
This curiosity led me to my current studies in Management in the Built Environment (MBE). I am currently in my first year, and early on, I had the opportunity to connect with Hans Wamelink from BK-Launch. He gave a guest lecture about his role in the impressive renovation of the Faculty of Architecture. He happened to be looking for a student assistant, and the role at BK-Launch immediately appealed to me. Since then, I have been working with the team for several months now, contributing to various initiatives and events we organize at BK-Launch.
Between my studies, I also took a leap into entrepreneurship, working as a ‘werkvoorbereider’ for various construction projects. This was a great challenge and an exciting opportunity to experience what it’s like to work as an entrepreneur rather than for an employer. It was a small start, but definitely something I want to pursue further.
To me, entrepreneurship means thinking in solutions rather than problems. From a young age, I was taught that if you want something, you have to make it happen yourself, because nothing just falls into your lap. Of course, you don’t always know exactly how to do something, but if you never try, you’ll never find out. As Pippi Longstocking once said: "I have never done it before, so I think I can do it." A simple quote from a children’s show, but one that holds a lot of truth.
