Tom van den Wijngaard on Mobile Forestry: In today’s world, urban trees should be at the forefront of creating sustainable and liveable city environments. However, the challenges of urban densification and climate change often prevent traditionally planted trees from reaching their full potential. In 2023, The Mobile Forestry Research & Design Studio introduced a new approach to planting and managing urban trees. As our name suggests, we treat trees as dynamic, living organisms that require ongoing care; This new approach includes the strategic relocation of urban trees to ensure longevity and resilience. With the introduction of the “Mobile Forestry Strategy,” we offer a diverse set of innovative long-term solutions for the cultivation of resilient urban forests.
Tom van den Wijngaard on entrepreneurship: To me entrepreneurship is about taking the Jump, even when you are not 100 percent sure it will work out; In contrast to a more academic approach where taking your time and doing the research is often the way to go, as a entrepreneurship I learned most lessons by doing.
